"Halfway up the Stairs".
After being away for 15 years, Lewisporte native Lorne Warr has recently returned to Newfoundland and now calls Trepassey home. His songwriting draws inspiration from sources as diverse as Newfoundland folklore, life on the road, the birth of a daughter, and his own families' history of working the high steel in New York. In his new album Halfway up the Stairs, Lorne celebrates his Newfoundland roots with a traditional folk delivery that retains many of the qualities of the music he loved as a child.
Have a listen, and if you like what you hear, feel good about supporting Newfoundland folk music by clicking the link and spending $10 for a download-- the cost of one beer at a really overpriced restaurant! Or $15 for the physical CD & digital download-- a beer and a plate of potato skins! Just click on the link below to listen to the music. We have plenty of hard copies of Lorne's CD on hand to deliver in person or mail out to you as well. Just contact us at lornewarr at gmail dot com to arrange for delivery.

Harold Finlay, St. Shott's, NL
The man of many songs, Harold Finlay has been sharing the songs he learned growing up in rural Newfoundland for most of his life. As much as his Cd's are for our enjoyment they are also recordings to be treasured as he is the last of a long line of folks that have shared these tunes. To quote the man himself "I want to record these songs to keep these songs alive because once I'm gone, so are the songs". He has three for sale now and you can contact his Missus, Sharon Finlay to purchase your copies. Cash or email transfers. Each CD cost's $20.00.

Tom St. Croix, from Portugal Cove South
Contact his sister Kay St. Croix Myrick at 438-2201 for pick up of CD. Cost is $20.00.

Tom was introduced to the old country music by Fred Perry, his next door neighbor and his mother's first cousin. When he was a little fellow, his brother Frank and he would go over to Mrs. Ag's as we called her, and Fred would play the old songs for us on the old wind-up gramophone. That was before we had electricity. Thank you Fred for the memories and for passing on your love of music to me.
